大蔵省に高さ七丈の帳を立てて御在所とした。諸司の舎屋及び東
西京の廬舎で往々にして顛覆し、圧殺された者が多数おり、あるいは失神して頓死した
者もいた。亥の刻にもまた三度震動した。五畿内七道の諸国で同日に大震があり、
官舎の多くが損害を受けた。(以下略)
八月壬寅朔、昼夜に地震が二度あった。二日癸卯、地震が
三度あった。四日乙巳、地震が五度あった。
五日丙午、昼に地震が五度、夜に大震があり、京師の人民は
廬舎から出て街路に居住した。六日丁未、釈奠の礼を停止した。先月三
十日、木工寮の将領秦千本と検校修造院が地
震に驚恐して失神し死亡したため、供祭所司がこの穢れに触れたのである。
謹んで按ずるに、この後連続して地震があったが、今これを略す。
十八日己未、徳の高い名僧百人を紫宸殿・大極両
殿に招き、大般若経を転読させ、三日間を期限として災異を禳い年穀を祈った。

The Ministry of Treasury erected a seven-jō-high curtain as the imperial residence. The buildings of various government offices and houses in the eastern and
western capitals frequently collapsed, with many people crushed to death, and some who lost consciousness and died suddenly.
At the hour of the Boar, there were also three more tremors. On the same day, there were great earthquakes in all provinces of the five home provinces and seven circuits,
with many government buildings suffering damage. (The rest is omitted)
8th month, 1st day (mizunoe-tora), day and night: Two earthquakes occurred. 2nd day (mizunoto-u): Earthquake
occurred three times. 4th day (kinoto-mi): Earthquake occurred five times.
5th day (hinoe-uma), daytime: Earthquake occurred five times. At night there was a great earthquake, and the people of the capital came out
from their houses to live in the streets. 6th day (hinoto-hitsuji): The Shakuten ceremony was suspended. On the 30th day of last month, Hata no Senmoto, leader of the Bureau of Carpentry, and the Inspector of the Construction Office died from shock and loss of consciousness due to
earthquake terror, so the ritual officers were affected by this defilement.
Humbly noting: After this there were continuous earthquakes, but they are omitted here.
18th day (tsuchinoto-hitsuji): One hundred virtuous and renowned monks were invited to both Shishin-den and Daigoku-den
halls to recite the Daihanyakyō (Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra) for a period of three days to ward off disasters and pray for good harvests.
