先月九日から連日地震が続き、今に至るまで絶えることがない。十三日　

【朱書】「改元」
九社奉幣使が立てられた。地震による御祈のためである。十四日　改元があった。地震によるものである。

文治三年
○玉葉　文治三年十月十二日　今日巳の刻に大地震。去年七月の震動には及ばないものの、その他では第一の大きな揺れである。天変が頻繁に現れ、その上このような震動があり、恐ろしくなお恐ろしい。司天の者たち、広基、泰茂などが来訪し、それぞれ恐れをもって（報告した）。

From the 9th of last month, daily earthquakes have continued without cease until now. 13th:

Envoys for offerings to the nine shrines were appointed. This was for imperial prayers due to the earthquake. 14th: There was a change of era name. This was due to the earthquake.

Bunji 3rd year
○ Gyokuyō, Bunji 3rd year, October 12th: Today at the hour of the Snake there was a great earthquake. Though it did not match the震動 of July last year, among others it was the greatest tremor. Heavenly portents appear frequently, and on top of this there is this震動 - frightening and still more frightening. The court astronomers Hiroki, Yasushige and others came to report, each with fearful concern.
