仏家之諸法繁多又陰陽家祭賀安両家

裏において御修法が始めて行われた。これは去る二十日の大地震について、賀茂家と安倍家の勘文により御慎みの由を申し上げた間、これがために御祈祷が行われたのである。蔵人権右中弁俊秀が奉行した。

九月十一日は例幣である。甲子並びに地震、世上の浮説等の事について辞別を戴くことになった。よって陣上卿として徳大寺中納言公有卿が参着し、伏座した。職事左中弁俊秀が軾を進め、下辞別の折紙を仰せ、宣命の事があった。《中略》

甲子の厄、その慎みは軽くないところ、地動の災い、その程度は重大であると司天台が奏上した。巷に浮説があって小心を致すといえども、翼々として大神の明々たることを仰ぎ、兵革を長く治め、邪僻の族を政化に帰せしめ、玉体はいよいよ穏やかに、庶民は仁風を歌うようにせよと、宣命辞別を戴くことを宜しく令するものである。

Buddhist rituals were performed for the first time in the inner palace. This was because, regarding the great earthquake of the past 20th day, divination reports from the Kamo and Abe families stated the need for imperial abstinence, and therefore prayers were conducted. Palace Secretary and Acting Right Middle Counselor Toshihide served as administrator.

The 11th day of the 9th month was for regular offerings. Regarding the matters of the kinoene year, earthquakes, and popular rumors, an imperial proclamation was to be received. Therefore, Middle Counselor Kinhide of the Tokudaiji family attended as Senior Noble in charge of the guard formation and took his prostrate position. Secretary of the Left and Middle Counselor Toshihide advanced the armrest and received the folded paper of the lower proclamation, with imperial commands being issued. [omitted section]

"The calamity of the kinoene year - its precautions are not light. The disaster of earth movement - its severity is grave, as reported by the Bureau of Astronomy. Though there are rumors in the streets causing anxiety, we humbly look up to the brilliant clarity of the great deities, may military conflicts be long pacified, may evil and corrupt groups be brought under governmental transformation, may the imperial body be ever more tranquil, and may the common people sing of benevolent rule. It is proper to command the receiving of this imperial proclamation."
Respectfully noting: In the 6th month, 23rd day of this year, a comet appeared. For prayers regarding this, numerous Buddhist rituals were performed extensively, and among the yin-yang practitioners, the Kamo and Abe families each conducted their practices. On the 22nd day of the 7th month, offerings were made for grain prayers, and an imperial proclamation was received regarding matters of the kinoene year, planetary conjunctions, comets, and such.
