の土蔵築地なと大にいたみ潰れし家居もあり
土蔵の潰れしは数多ありて築地高塀なとは大
かた倒れ怪我せし人も数多なりむかしはあり
と聞けと近く都の土地にかくはけしきはなか
りけれは人々驚きおそれてみな〳〵家を走り出
て大路に敷ものしき仮の宿りを何くれといと

文政十三年庚寅年七月二日、申の刻頃に大地震が発生し、激しく揺れ動いたため、洛中の土蔵や築地などが大いに損傷し、倒壊した家屋もあった。土蔵の倒壊は数多くあり、築地や高い塀などは大部分が倒れ、怪我をした人も数多くいた。昔にはあったと聞いているが、近年京都の土地でこのように激しい地震はなかったので、人々は驚き恐れて、皆家から走り出て大路に敷物を敷いて仮の宿りを何かと色々と

　　　　Considerations on Earthquakes

On the 2nd day of the 7th month of Bunsei 13th year, year of the Metal Tiger, around the hour of the Monkey, a great earthquake occurred and shook violently, causing severe damage to earthen storehouses and earthen walls in the capital, with some houses collapsing. There were numerous collapsed storehouses, and most of the earthen walls and high fences fell down, with many people injured. Although I have heard that such earthquakes occurred in ancient times, there had been no such severe earthquake in the land of the capital in recent years, so people were startled and frightened, and everyone ran out of their houses to spread bedding on the main streets to make temporary shelters, doing various things...
