【右丁】
坑道の中で地気が上昇して、傍らにいる人も互いに腰より上は、ただ濛々として見えない。これを地震の前兆とするという。
考えてみると、常に地中に入る者は地気をよく知る。鳥は空中にいて、よく上昇する気をよく知る。今度地震が起ころうとする時、数千の鷺が一度に飛ぶのを見る。また、ある人が六月二十七日の朝、まだ日も出ない先に、虹が丑寅の間（北東）に立つのを見た。虹は日に向かって立つのが常である。いずれも常ではないので、前兆と言うのであろうか。
○また最初に述べた地震の和名「なゐふる」、李鷹大人が「なまず」であるという話によって、古図を得てここに出す。

この図は暦の初めに出して、次に建久九年（土の戊午）の暦、凡そ三百五十五日とあり、余はこれを略す。伊豆の図、那珂郡松崎村の寺院の古い唐紙の中より出る。版本の暦である。

In the mine shafts, ground vapors rise up, and even people nearby cannot see each other above the waist, as everything appears hazy and obscured. This is said to be a sign of earthquake.
Upon reflection, those who regularly enter underground know ground vapors well. Birds, being in the air, well understand ascending vapors. When an earthquake was about to occur this time, thousands of herons were seen flying at once. Also, a certain person saw a rainbow appear in the northeast (between the hours of the Ox and Tiger) on the morning of the twenty-seventh day of the sixth month, before the sun had yet risen. It is usual for rainbows to appear facing the sun. Since none of these are ordinary occurrences, might they be called omens?
○ Also, regarding the Japanese name for earthquake "naifuru" mentioned at the beginning, based on the story that Ritaka-taijin said it was a "namazu" (catfish), I have obtained an ancient diagram and present it here.
