前願申上可然之旨御偽にて無之段
御誓文にて被仰越候通いかにも承届申候

家之為身之為と被仰越候 其段者如何

以前お願い申し上げた通りにしていただけるという件について、ご偽りではないという段、ご誓文にてお伝えいただいた通り、確かに承り届けました。しかしながら、明日参上して官位を仰せ出されるならば、我等にとってはなんとも良いことではございますが、ありがたい上意を重く受け止めるほど、かえって恐ろしく存じます。また、公儀のおため、家のため、身のためと仰せ越されました。その段については、いかようにもそのようではございますが、参上して相勤めるほど、何かしら悪しく思うところもございまして、貴様のお思いと少々相違申すように存じます。世間では思案が近い（浅い）という旨の取り沙汰があるでしょう。
これは内心に存じておりますが、この段はいかように申しても苦しくはございません。とにかく少しでも早く引き籠もり申すのが、諸事によいと存じ詰めて罷り在ります。大隅殿、貴様に頼み入り申しますので、然るべきようにご相談の上でお取り計らいください。貴様のおためまで悪しきことがあると仰せ越されましたが、いずれの道でも同じことです。この上は首尾よく願いが調うよう頼み入り存じます。美濃守殿のご懇意の段、とにかく筆や紙では申し尽くし難く存じます。何分にも貴様に頼み申しますので、然るべきように仰せ達しくださいますよう。昨日もお越しいただき、かたじけなく

Regarding the matter that you would do as I previously requested, I have indeed received and understood your message sworn in writing that this is not false. However, if I go tomorrow and am granted court rank, while it would be very good for me, the more I value this gracious imperial command, the more frightened I become.
