にこもればとていそぎかへりてつとめて鳥の声に
もよほされてといひおこせ侍りければ夜ふかゝり
けるとりの声は函谷関のことにやといひ遣し
たりけるを立かへりこれは逢坂の関に
侍るとあればよめる 清少納言
夜をこめて鳥のそらねははかるとも世に逢坂の関はゆるさじ
現代語訳
局のかたに参でて来て、歌はいかがなさいますか。丹後へは人を遣わしましょうか。使いは参らずや。いかに心もとなく思われましょうなどと戯れて立ったのを、引き留めて詠める 小式部内侍
大江山幾野の道の遠ければまだ踏みも見ず天の橋立
○丹後の国へは大江山や幾つも野を越えて行く遠い道なれば、手紙もまだ来ません。「まだふみもみず」という詞に天の橋立もまだ踏（フミ）んでいない事を兼ねたり

後拾遺集雑 大納言行成が物語などをしていたところ、内の御物忌みに籠もるからといって急いで帰って、翌朝鳥の声に促されてと言ってよこしたので、夜が更けてから鳴く鳥の声は函谷関のことでしょうかと言い遣わしたところ、すぐに返事で、これは逢坂の関にあると言うので詠める 清少納言
夜を籠めて鳥の空音は計るとも世に逢坂の関は許さじ
英語訳
He came to her quarters and said teasingly: "How are you composing your poems? Should we send someone to Tango Province? Hasn't a messenger come? You must be feeling quite anxious," and when he was about to leave, she detained him and composed - Koshikibu no Naishi
The path through Ōe Mountain and across many fields is so distant that I have not yet stepped foot there nor seen Ama-no-Hashidate
○To Tango Province, one must cross Ōe Mountain and many fields - it's such a distant road that letters have not yet arrived. The phrase "mada fumi mo mizu" (not yet stepped/not yet received letters) also implies that she has not yet stepped foot on Ama-no-Hashidate (the Bridge of Heaven).

Goshūi Wakashū, Miscellaneous - When Dainagon Yukinari was telling stories and such, he said he must return quickly because of a court purification retreat, and the next morning sent a message saying he was prompted by bird songs. She replied asking if the bird songs late at night referred to Hangu Pass, to which he immediately replied that this was at Ōsaka Barrier, so she composed - Sei Shōnagon
Though you may try to deceive with false bird songs in the deep of night, the Ōsaka Barrier of meeting will never grant you passage
