なには江の芦のかりねの一夜ゆゑみをつくしてや恋渡るべき

皇嘉門院別当
難波江の芦の刈り根の一夜ゆえ身を尽くしてや恋い渡るべき
○葦の刈り根にちょっと一夜寝ただけの契りなのに、このようにして死ぬまで恋い慕って月日を過ごすことだろうか

玉の緒よ絶えなば絶えね長らえば忍ぶることの弱りもぞする
○この命よ、もう絶えるならばいっそ絶えてしまえ。長生きしていたら、忍び隠すことが弱って、さあ表れることもあろうに
千載集恋 歌合し侍りける時恋の歌とて詠める 殷富門院大輔
見せばやな小島の海人の袖だにも濡れに濡れし色は変わらず
○この涙に色の変わった私の袖を、つれない人に見せたいなあ。小島の海人の袖でさえも濡れに濡れても色は変わらないのに、この私の袖はこのように色が変わった

蟋蟀鳴くや霜夜の寒筵に衣片敷き独り鴨寝む
○蟋蟀が鳴いて霜夜の寒いのに、筵の上に着物の片方を敷いて今宵も独り寝をすることだなあ

我が袖は潮干に見えぬ沖の石の人こそ知らね乾く間もなし
○つれない人を思い慕るゆえ、私の袖は潮干にも出ない沖の底にある石
