現代語訳
思い捨てしまいそうなほど、かえって大変役に立つとてもよい書物であった。このたび、ある人が桜に歌を詠もうとして、「花も美しくない自分の拙い言葉を書き添えてください」と頼まれるままに、このように書くのである。

○秋の田の稲を刈ったり干したりするために田の端に建てた庵はちょっと
した仮小屋なので、その苫が粗いために、私の着る物はすっかり
露に濡れた。このように濡れながらも夜通し見張りを続けるのは
わびしいことだなあ。

In autumn fields / at the temporary hut for grain / the straw mat rough— / my sleeves are always wet / with the morning dew
○The hut built at the edge of the autumn rice field for harvesting and drying the grain is just a makeshift shelter, so because the straw matting is coarse, my clothes get completely soaked with dew. To keep watch through the long night while getting wet like this is truly a lonely affair.
