○ワガ廬室ハ京カラ辰巳ノ方遠カラヌ宇治山と云処ヂヤ外（ホカ）ノ人ハ
此山ニ住デミテモ京ガ近イ故ヤツハリ世ノウイコトガアツテドウモ
スマレヌ山ヂヤト云ヂヤガ拙僧ハコレ此通（しかぞ）リニ￣サ年久シウ住デ居ル

花の色はうつりにけりないたづらにわが身世にふるながめせしまに

たつとて京なる人のもとに遣しける
現代語訳
ああ、あの月は故郷の三笠山へ出た月であろうか
古今集雑 題知らず 喜撰法師
わが庵は都の辰巳しかぞ住む世を憂し山と人は言うなり
○わが庵室は京から辰巳の方角、遠からぬ宇治山という所である。他の人は
この山に住んでみても京が近い故、やはり世の憂いことがあってどうも
住めない山だと言うが、私はこれ、この通りに長い間住んでいる

花の色は移りにけりないたずらにわが身世に降るながめせし間に
○ええ、花の色はもう移ろってしまったことよ。一度も見ずに
不実でつれない男について心苦しいことがあって何ともどうしようもなかった
間に長雨が降ったりなどしてつい花はあのようになってしまった
世に降るとは男女の語らいをするを言う。遠鏡に言えるが如し
後撰集雑 逢坂の関に庵室を作りて住み侍り
ける時に行き交う人を見て

これやこの行くも帰るも別れては知るも知らぬも逢坂の関
○行く人も帰る人も知る人も知らぬ人も別れては逢い、逢っては別れ
するのは、これがかの逢坂の関であるか

My humble dwelling / lies southeast of the capital / here I live in peace / while others call this mountain / "the world-weary mountain"
○My hermitage is located in the Uji mountains, not far to the southeast of the capital. Other people
say that even if one tries to live on this mountain, because it's close to the capital, worldly troubles
still arise and one cannot truly dwell here, but I have been living here peacefully like this for many years

The cherry blossoms' / color has faded away / while I spent my days / gazing at the long spring rains / as my beauty waned
○Ah, the color of the flowers has already faded! Without even looking at them once,
while I was troubled by heartbreak over an unfaithful and cold man, feeling helpless,
the long rains fell and the flowers ended up like that
"Falling in the world" refers to romantic relations between men and women, as expressed in classical poetry
