参議篁
わたの原八十島かけて漕ぎ出でぬと人には告げよ海人の釣船
○行く先はいくらともなく段々にたくさんある島々を過ぎて行くべき海上へ
今出船したということを故郷の人には知らせてくれ、これ、あの辺へ帰って
行く海人の釣船よ
古今集雑 五節の舞姫を見て詠める 僧正遍昭
天津風雲の通ひ路吹き閉ぢよ乙女の姿しばし留めん
○あの天女の舞の姿がとても面白いことで、とても惜しい。空を吹く風よ、
あの天女が雲の中を通って天へ去る道を吹き閉じて行けないようにして
くれ。そうしたらもう少し留めておいて、もっとあの舞を見よう
後撰集恋 釣殿の皇子に贈った歌
陽成院
筑波嶺の峰より落つる男女川恋ぞ積りて淵となりぬる
○筑波山の峰から落ちる僅かな水がついに下では男女川という
深い川となるようなもので、恋もだんだん積り積って淵のよう
に深くなるよ

陸奥のしのぶもぢずり誰ゆえに乱れんと思う我ならなくに
○誰のために他へ心を散らそうか、お前より他に心を散らす私では
ないぞ

Counselor Takamura
Over the vast sea / crossing eighty islands / I row into exile / tell this to people back home / you fishermen's boats
○Tell the people in my homeland that I have now set sail onto the seas where I will pass
countless islands one after another on my journey. You fishing boats of the fishermen
who are returning to those parts, please carry this message

Heavenly wind blow / and close the path through the clouds / that the maiden takes / so her graceful dancing form / may linger here a while
○That heavenly maiden's dance is so fascinating and I'm reluctant to see it end. O wind that blows through the sky,
please blow shut the path through the clouds by which that heavenly maiden would return to heaven,
so that I may keep her here a while longer and watch more of her dance

From Tsukuba's peak / the Minano River flows / like my growing love / that deepens as it goes / into a bottomless pool
○Like the small amount of water falling from Mount Tsukuba's peak that eventually
becomes the deep Minano River below, so too does love gradually accumulate
and deepen like a river pool
