古今集春 仁和の帝みこにおはしましける時に人に
わかな給ひける御哥 光孝天皇
君かため春の野に出て若菜つむわが衣でに雪はふりつゝ
○ソコモトヘ進ゼウト存シテ野へ出て此若菜ヲ摘ダガ殊ノ外
寒イコトデ袖ヘ雪ガ降リカヽツテ扨々難成ヲ致シテ摘ダ若菜デゴザル
古今集離別 題しらず 在原行平朝臣
立わかれいなばの山の峯におふるまつとしきかば今かへりこむ
○今此方ハ京ヲ立テ別レテ因幡ノ国ヘ下ルガ其国ノ因幡山
ノ峯ニハエテアル松ノ谷ノ通￣リ ニソナタガ此方ヲ待ツト聞タナラ
ヂキニ又カヘツテコウハサテ
古今集秋 二條の后の春宮のみやす所と申ける時に
御屏風に立田川に紅葉流れたるかたをかけりける
を題にてよめる 在原業平朝臣
ちはやぶる神代もきかず立田川からくれなゐに水くゝるとは
○此立田川ヘシゲウ紅葉ノ流ルヽトコロヲミレバトント紅鹿子（ベニカノコ）紅シボリ
トミヘルワイサテ〳〵奇妙ナコトカナ神代ニハサマ〳〵ノ奇妙ナコトガ
アツタヂヤガ此ヤウニ川ノ水ヲ紅ノクヽリゾメニシタト云コトハ神代ニ
モ一向キカヌコトチヤ《割書：千秋云くゝりぞめは令式なと｜にもみへて纐纈といへる是なり》と遠鏡にみへたり

すみのえの岸による浪よるさへや夢の通路人めよくらむ
現代語訳
古今集春 仁和帝が皇子でいらっしゃった時に人に
若菜を賜った御歌 光孝天皇
君がため春の野に出でて若菜摘む我が衣手に雪は降りつつ
○そちらへ差し上げようと思って野へ出てこの若菜を摘んだが、ことのほか
寒いことで袖へ雪が降りかかって、さてさて難儀をして摘んだ若菜でございます
古今集離別 題知らず 在原行平朝臣
立ち別れいなばの山の峰に生ふる松と聞かば今帰り来ん
○今こちらは京を立って別れて因幡の国へ下るが、その国の因幡山の
峰に生えている松の「まつ」の語呂合わせのように、そなたがこちらを待つと聞いたなら
すぐにまた帰って来よう
古今集秋 二条后が春宮の御息所と申した時に
御屏風に竜田川に紅葉流れたる形を描いたのを
題にして詠める 在原業平朝臣
千早振る神代も聞かず竜田川唐紅に水くくるとは
○この竜田川へしきりに紅葉の流れるところを見れば、まるで紅鹿子、紅絞り
と見えるよ。さてさて奇妙なことだなあ。神代には様々な奇妙なことが
あったというが、このように川の水を紅の括り染めにしたということは神代にも
全く聞いたことがない《割書：千秋が言うには括り染めは令式などにも見えて纐纈というのがこれである》と遠鏡に見える

住の江の岸に寄る波夜るさへや夢の通ひ路人目よくらん
英語訳
From Kokinshū, Spring section, when Emperor Ninwa was still a prince, he bestowed young herbs on someone with this imperial poem Emperor Kōkō
For your sake I went / to the spring fields to gather / these young tender herbs / while upon my sleeves the snow / kept falling as I picked them
○I went to the fields intending to offer these to you, and picked these young herbs, but it was
exceptionally cold and snow kept falling on my sleeves—these herbs were gathered with great difficulty

Now I take my leave / if you should hear that the pine / on Inaba mountain / waits for me, I shall return / to you immediately
○Now I depart from the capital and go down to Inaba province, but if you should hear
that the pine growing on Mount Inaba's peak is "waiting" (playing on the word "matsu" meaning both "pine" and "wait"),
I will return immediately

Even in the age / of the gods such wonders were / never heard before— / the Tatsuta River / tie-dyeing its waters red
○Looking at this Tatsuta River where autumn leaves flow thickly, it appears exactly like red
tie-dyed silk. How truly wondrous! In the age of the gods there were various miraculous things,
but even in that divine age, no one ever heard of a river tie-dyeing its waters crimson
《Marginal note: Chiaki says that tie-dyeing appears in the legal codes and is called "kōketsu"》 as seen in the magnifying glass
