現代語訳
○昼間本当に通う道では人目をはばかるのもそのはずのことだが、夜
夢に通うと見る道でまで人目をはばかってよけるように見るのはどうしたことであろうか
新古今集雑 題知らず 伊勢
難波潟短き葦の節の間も逢はで此世を過ぐしてよとや
○難波の浦に生える葦の短い節の間ほども会わずにこの世を過ごし
てしまえということか。さてもさてもつれない人だなあ
後撰集恋 事件が起こって後、京極の御息所に
送った歌 元良親王
侘びぬれば今はた同じ難波なるみをつくしても逢はんとぞ思ふ
○恋に苦しみ難儀をすれば、今では身を失ったのも同じこと
だから、身を失ってでも会おうと思います

今来むと言ひしばかりに長月の有明の月を待ち出でつるかな
○すぐにそちらへ参ろうと言って寄越したばかりに、この九月の末の夜の
長いのに、さて待つほどに待つほどに、遅い有明の月がはやもう出たよ。約束もしなかった
有明の月さえ待ち出したのに、それなのに待つ人は、さてもさても来ないことよ。これはまあどうしたことか

吹くからに秋の草木のしをるればうべ山風を嵐といふらん
○吹くとそのまま秋の草木があのようにしおれるので、もっともなことだ。それで山の風を
嵐とは言うのであろう

○Suffering in love and enduring hardships, now losing my life amounts to the same thing,
so I think I will meet you even if it costs me my life

Just because you said / "I will come to you today" / through the long night of / the ninth month I waited out / even the dawn moon's rising
○Just because you sent word saying "I'll come to you right away," throughout this long night
at the end of the ninth month, waiting and waiting, even the late dawn moon has already risen. Without even making
a promise, I've waited out even the dawn moon, yet still the person I wait for truly does not come. What could be the matter?

Just from the blowing / autumn grasses and trees wilt / so naturally one / calls the mountain wind a / "storm" that "lays waste" [arashi]
○Since autumn grasses and trees wither just from the wind blowing, it's quite natural.
That's why they call the mountain wind "arashi" (storm)
