○芙蓉（フヨウ）は葉が葵のようで、花は紅白がある。一重と八重があり、一重は木槿（ムクゲ）に似ているが大きい。清らかで美しい。七月に花が咲く。
○竜胆（リンドウ）は花が桔梗の花の色のようで、葉は笹のようである。九月の末に花が咲く。俗にリンドウという。

○秋葵（オウソ）は一名を黄蜀葵（オウショッキ）という。また側金盞（ソクキンサン）ともいう。葉は尖って狭く、ぎざぎざがある。秋に薄黄色の花が咲く。俗にトロロアオイという。
○莠（ユウ）は稗（ヒエ）に似ているが実がない。一名を狗尾草（クビソウ）という。粟の中に生える。俗にエノコログサという。
○金銭花（キンセンカ）は午時花（ゴジカ）ともいう。秋に花が咲く。濃い紅色で美しい。一名を子午花（シゴカ）という。

○Hibiscus (fuyō) has leaves like hollyhock, with red and white flowers. There are single and double varieties; the single ones resemble rose of Sharon but are larger. They are pure and beautiful. They bloom in July.
○Gentian (rindō) has flowers colored like bellflower blossoms, and leaves like bamboo grass. They bloom at the end of September. Commonly called rindō.

○Sunset hibiscus (ōso) is also called yellow hibiscus (ōshokki) or side golden cup (sokkinsan). The leaves are pointed, narrow, and serrated. In autumn, pale yellow flowers bloom. Commonly called tororo-aoi.
○Barnyard grass (yū) resembles Japanese millet but has no grain. Also called dog's tail grass (kubisō). It grows among millet crops. Commonly called enokoro-gusa.
○Marigold (kinsenka) is also called noon flower (gojika). It blooms in autumn. It is a deep red color and beautiful. Also called midday flower (shigoka).
