【右頁上段】
○バラ（薔薇）は花に紅、白、黄、薄紅がある。千重のものをボタンイバラといい、一重のものを棘薔薇という。一名を月々紅、また長春ともいう。
○イワレンゲ（慎火）は一名を景天、また戒火ともいう。小さなものを仏甲草という。
○コケ（苔・蘚）は同じもので、水にあるものを陟釐という。石に生えるものを石濡、瓦にあるものを屋游、垣にあるものを垣衣という。

○ホオズキ（酸漿）は五月に白い花が咲き、実は赤く灯籠のようである。よって金灯籠という。
○オグルマ（旋覆）は葉が長く、花は黄色で菊に似ている。六月に花が咲く。また九月に紫の花が咲くものをシオン（紫苑）という。これは見事な花である。

【Right Page, Upper Section】
○Rose (shōbi) has flowers in red, white, yellow, and light pink. The double-flowered ones are called peony roses (botan ibara), and the single-flowered ones are called thorn roses. Also called "monthly red" (getsugetsu kō) or "long spring" (chōshun).
○Houseleek (iwarenge) is also called "view of heaven" (keiten) or "fire prevention" (kaika). The small ones are called "Buddha's armor grass" (bukka-sō).
○Moss (koke) and liverwort (sen) are the same. Those in water are called chokuri. Those growing on stones are called sekishu, those on tiles are called okuyū, and those on walls are called en'i.

○Chinese lantern plant (sanshō) blooms white flowers in May, and the fruit is red like a lantern. Therefore it's called "golden lantern" (kintōrō).
○Elecampane (oguruma) has long leaves, yellow flowers resembling chrysanthemums. It blooms in June. The one that blooms purple flowers in September is called aster (shion). This is a magnificent flower.
