【右頁上段】
○菊（きく）は百種類がある。花も多くの品種がある。頭痛を治し、目を明らかにし、寿命を延ばすと言われている。薬には黄色い菊の一種がある。
○オバナ（莣）はチガヤに似ている。皮は縄や履物に作る。大きいものを石芒（せきぼう）、小さいものを芭芒（はぼう）という。
○エ（荏）は白蘇（はくそ）とも言う。山野に多く生えている。油分が多い。エの油という。

○牽牛（あさがお）は葉に三つの尖りがある。花は紫色で、白は昔からあった。近頃新しい花が出て、紅絞り、飛入りなど、花形も様々ある。
○鼓子（ひるがお）は花の形が軍中で吹く鼓子のようである。故に鼓子花という。また旋葍花（せんふくか）ともいう。
○蒴藋（そくづ）は枝ごとに五葉がある。花は白く、実は青くインゲン豆のようである。痛む所に葉を付け、煎じて洗うとよい。一名を接骨草（せっこつそう）という。

○Chrysanthemum (kiku) has one hundred varieties. The flowers also come in many different types. It is said to cure headaches, clarify vision, and extend life. For medicine, there is one variety of yellow chrysanthemum.
○Pampas grass (obana) resembles cogon grass. The bark is used to make rope or footwear. Large ones are called "sekibō" (stone miscanthus), small ones are called "habō" (plantain miscanthus).
○Perilla (e) is also called white perilla. It grows abundantly in mountains and fields. It is rich in oil. Called perilla oil.

○Morning glory (asagao) has leaves with three pointed tips. The flowers are purple, and white varieties have existed since ancient times. Recently new flowers have appeared, including red-striped and speckled varieties, with various flower forms.
○Bindweed (hirugao) has flowers shaped like the drums (kushi) blown in military camps. Hence it is called "kushi flower." It is also called "senfuku flower."
○Elder (sokuzu) has five leaves on each branch. The flowers are white and the berries are blue like mung beans. It is good to apply the leaves to painful areas and wash with a decoction. Also called "bone-setting grass."
