【右頁上段】
○陵苕（のうぜんかずら）は木にまとう。夏より秋まで花が咲き、色は赤い。また陵霄花（りょうしょうか）という。
○藍（あい）は葉が蓼（たで）に似て大きい。犬蓼のように葉の中に黒い点がある。五、六月に紅色の花が咲く。葉を染色に用いる。
○茜（あかね）は赤い色を染める草である。一名を地血（ちけつ）という。また染緋草（せんひそう）ともいう。

○山薑（いぬはじかみ）は葉が生姜（しょうが）に似て花は赤い。子は草豆蒄（そうずく）に似て、根は杜若（かきつばた）に似る。一名を美草（びそう）という。
○沢漆（とうだいぐさ）は葉が馬歯莧（すべりひゆ）に似る。円形で緑青色の花が咲く。毒草である。
○蓖麻（とうごま）は葉が瓠（ひさご）の葉のように中が空で五又がある。秋に花が咲き実を結ぶ。実には刺がある。

○Trumpet creeper (nōzenkazura) climbs on trees. Flowers bloom from summer to autumn, and the color is red. Also called ryōshōka (climbing sky flower).
○Indigo (ai) has leaves resembling knotweed but larger. Like dog knotweed, it has black spots in the leaves. Red flowers bloom in May and June. The leaves are used for dyeing.
○Madder (akane) is a grass used to dye red color. Also called chiketsu (ground blood). Also called senhisō (dye scarlet grass).

○Wild ginger (inuhajikame) has leaves resembling ginger and red flowers. The seeds resemble sōzuku (cardamom), and the roots resemble kakitsubata (iris). Also called bisō (beautiful grass).
○Spurge (tōdaigusa) has leaves resembling purslane. It produces round, blue-green flowers. It is a poisonous plant.
○Castor bean (tōgoma) has leaves like bottle gourd leaves, hollow in the center with five branches. Flowers bloom in autumn and bear fruit. The fruit has thorns.
