○倉頡（さうけつ）は黄帝（くはうてい）の代（よ）
の人なり眼（まなこ）四ツあり鳥（とり）

現代語訳
○倉頡（そうけつ）は黄帝の時代の人である。目が四つあり、鳥の足跡を見て初めて文字を作った。これが文字の祖である。
○黄帝は軒轅氏という。蚩尤という逆臣を滅ぼして帝位に就かれた聖人である。この時から暦算、律呂、宮室、書契、冠服などことごとく整った。また初めて舟を作られた。元妃に命じて養蚕の業を教えられた。

○孔子は中国周の時代の人で、堯・舜の道を広め、五常を教えられた。文宣王ともいう。儒学の大聖人である。
○老子は周の時代の蔵室の役人であった。生まれながらにして白髪であった。道経五千言を著し、無為自然の道を教えられた。道士の大祖で神人である。その最期を知る者はいない。
○許由は堯帝が位を譲ろうとされるのを聞いて、その耳が汚れたといって潁川の滝に行き、耳を洗った賢人である。

○Cangjie was a person from the time of the Yellow Emperor. He had four eyes and, observing bird footprints, first created written characters. He is the ancestor of writing.
○The Yellow Emperor was called Xuanyuan. He was a sage who destroyed the rebel minister Chiyou and ascended to the imperial throne. From this time, calendar calculations, pitch pipes, palace buildings, written contracts, court caps and robes were all established. He also first created boats. He commanded his principal consort to teach the art of sericulture.

○Confucius was a person from the Zhou period of China. He spread the Way of Yao and Shun and taught the Five Constants. He is also called King Wenxuan. He is the great sage of Confucianism.
○Laozi was an official of the archives during the Zhou period. He was born with white hair. He revealed the Dao De Jing in five thousand words and taught the Way of wu wei and naturalness. He is the great ancestor of Daoists, a divine person. No one knows his end.
○Xu You was a sage who, upon hearing that Emperor Yao wished to abdicate the throne to him, said his ears were defiled and went to the waterfall at Ying River to wash his ears.
