○人形芝居は「あやつり」という名前もある。はじめは人形を糸で吊って操作していたが、熟練者が現れて今では自由に動きを表現することができ、まるで生きているかのようである。難波の竹本座と豊竹座の両芝居を基本とし、上手な人形遣いが多数いる。また難波には竹田座というからくり人形の芝居があり、珍しい細工を施して人々の目を驚かせるほどの上手さである。

○軽業は昔からその伝承がある技芸なのか、始まりを知らない。実に危険な所作であるが、バランスと手練の技術によって、上手な演者が多数現れて人々の目を楽しませている。しかしながら、ややもすれば怪我や事故を起こす者もいる。きりん太夫という者が一本の綱を渡り始めてから、軽業師をすべて世間では「きりん」と呼ぶようになった。幼少の時から慣れ親しまなければ習得は困難であろう。

○Puppet theater (ningyō shibai) is also known as "ayatsuri" (manipulation). Initially, puppets were operated by suspending them with strings, but skilled practitioners emerged and now they can move freely, appearing as if alive. The Takemoto-za and Toyotake-za theaters in Naniwa (Osaka) serve as the foundation, with many skilled puppeteers. There is also the Takeda-za in Naniwa, which features karakuri mechanical puppets, creating such remarkable craftsmanship that it amazes spectators.

○Acrobatics (karuwaza) may have ancient traditions, though its origins are unknown. These are truly dangerous performances, but through balance and skilled technique, many expert performers have emerged to delight audiences. However, there are those who sometimes suffer injuries or accidents. Since a performer called Kirin-dayū began walking on a single rope, all acrobats have come to be called "kirin" by the general public. One would need to become accustomed to this art from childhood, as it would be difficult to master otherwise.
