【Right page, upper section】
○Otters live in water and
have short limbs. Their color is
bluish-black, and they catch and
eat fish. They treat water retention and abdominal
distension. One should not eat too much of them.
○Martens are a type of rodent,
large and yellowish-black
in color. Their fur is thick and
warm. They are made into hats and
collars to ward off cold. Commonly
written as "栗鼠" (squirrel).
○Flying squirrels are like small foxes
with flesh wings resembling bats.
Their legs are short and their tail
is about three shaku long. Their voice is like
a person calling, and they eat fire and smoke.

○Kon (martens) are a type of rodent.

with fish-like tails. They have
bluish-white fur on their bodies, and also
bluish-black spots.
Their navels treat exhaustion
of the spleen and kidneys.
○Sea otters resemble otters
but are as large as dogs.
