○The peacock is larger than a wild goose,
with a height of four shaku.
It has three feathers on its head,
each about one sun long. Its entire body is
green with a lustrous shine,
and the eye-spots on its tail glow blue.
When people clap their hands and sing,
it spreads its tail and dances.

○The golden pheasant resembles a copper pheasant
but is smaller, with feathers of five
colors. It is like the feathers
of a peacock. Betsuchi and
saikei refer to the same bird.
○The silver pheasant resembles a mountain pheasant
but is white in color, with black patterns.
Its tail is about three to four
shaku long. When eaten,
it nourishes the body and
neutralizes poison.
