○鷺（サギ）は首が細くて長く、嘴と脚がともに長い。大小がある。小さいものは頭頂に長い毛がある。脾を増し、気を補う。
○鵁鶄（ゴイサギ）は水鳥である。大きさはサギのようで、灰白色、背は黒い。これを背黒ゴイといい、斑点があるものを星ゴイという。諸魚の毒を解く。
○紅鶴（トキ）は別名朱鷺ともいう。サギより大きく、色は白くて少し赤い。俗にタウガラスという。

○The heron has a thin, long neck, and both its beak and legs are long. They come in various sizes. The smaller ones have long feathers on their crown. It strengthens the spleen and supplements qi.
○The night heron is a water bird. It is about the size of a heron, grayish-white in color with a black back. This is called "seguro-goi" (black-backed night heron), and those with spots are called "hoshi-goi" (starred night heron). It neutralizes the toxins of various fish.
○The red crane (crested ibis) is also called "shuro" (vermillion heron). It is larger than a heron, white in color with a slight reddish tint. It is commonly called "taugarasu."
