【右頁上段】
○梟（フクロウ）は形が鳶に似ていて小さく、頭が大きくて丸く、眼が大きい。夜出て昼は隠れている。雌は声が叫ぶようである。母鳥を食うという不孝の鳥と言われている。
○鵲（カササギ）は大きさが鴉のようで、尾が尖って長い。嘴は黒い。食べると淋病、消渇を治療する。婦人は食べてはいけない。

○秧雞（クイナ）は鶏に似ていて小さい。頬が白く嘴が長く、尾が短く、背に白いまだらがある。田沢のほとりに住む。
○鴗（カワセミ）は大きさが燕のようである。嘴は体に比べて大きく尖って長い。足の裏が紅色で短い。水辺にいて魚を捕る。土に穴を掘って巣を作る。全身が黒く青く光る。

【Right page, upper section】
○The owl (fukurou) resembles a kite in form but is smaller, with a large, round head and large eyes. It comes out at night and hides during the day. The female's voice is like screaming. It is said to be an unfilial bird that eats its mother bird.
○The magpie (kasasagi) is about the size of a crow, with a pointed, long tail. Its beak is black. When eaten, it treats gonorrhea and diabetes. Women should not eat it.
