○山雀（ヤマガラ）はスズメの大きさほどある。頭は黒く、背中は黒く、腹はかき色である。羽の扱いが軽やかでよく慣れるため、籠に入れて飼うのに適している。
○鴰（ヒガラ）はシジュウカラに似ているが小さい。これも飼うのに良い。毛色が美しい。
○小雀（コガラ）はヒガラに似ているが極めて小さい。いずれも秋の終わりに渡って来る。

○繍眼児（メジロ）はスズメより小さい。羽色は萌黄色で、腹は薄黄色である。目の周りが白い。多く集まって枝に押し合うように止まる鳥である。
○エナガは極めて小さな鳥である。頭頂は灰白色、羽色は薄い黒灰白の毛が混じり、薄赤い毛がある。尾が長い。秋から冬にかけて群れをなしてやって来る。

○The varied tit (yamagara) is about the size of a sparrow. Its head is black, its back is black, and its belly is persimmon-colored. Because it handles its wings lightly and tames well, it is suitable for keeping in a cage.
○The coal tit (higara) resembles the great tit but is smaller. This one is also good for keeping as a pet. Its feather colors are beautiful.
○The marsh tit (kogara) resembles the coal tit but is extremely small. All of these migrate at the end of autumn.

○The white-eye (mejiro) is smaller than a sparrow. Its feather color is yellow-green, and its belly is pale yellow. The area around its eyes is white. It is a bird that gathers in large numbers and perches pressed together on branches.
○The long-tailed tit (enaga) is an extremely small bird. Its crown is gray-white, its feather colors are mixed with light black and gray-white, and it has light reddish feathers. Its tail is long. It comes in flocks from autumn through winter.
