devised a strategy to destroy the great serpent. He had Inadahime dressed in beautiful robes, had eight four-pronged combs made and placed in her hair knot, and had her stand upon a platform. The insertion of the combs was to ward off evil spirits. Around the platform fires were lit, and outside of that, eight large jars were prepared and filled with sake, and thus they waited. As night deepened, rain fell violently and wind blew fiercely, like in the deep mountains
