かくていつものくにに大みやつくり

こうして出雲の国に大宮を造り給い、稲田姫を妻として婚姻し給い、このように詠み給うた。

これは三十一文字に定まった歌の始めである。尊の御心に、天照大神と仲が悪くては良くないことと思し召されたのであろうか、かの大蛇の腹より取り出し給うた天叢雲剣を天照大神へ献上し、不孝は許され

給うた。天照大神がこの剣を見給うて、「これは昔、私が高天原より落とした剣である」とおっしゃった。この剣はすなわち代々の帝の御宝となって、宝剣と申し上げるのである。こうして天照大神と素戔嗚尊との間に婚姻があって、八尺瓊の勾玉を懐妊し給うたところ、陰陽が生成して正哉吾勝々速日天忍穂耳尊をお産み給う。これは地神第二の御神である。第一神である天照大神は大和の国

Thus, he built a great palace in the land of Izumo, took Princess Inada as his wife in marriage, and composed this poem:
Clouds rise in layers, Izumo's eightfold fence
To shelter my wife, I build this eightfold fence
This is the beginning of poems fixed at thirty-one syllables (waka). Perhaps the deity thought in his heart that it would not be good to remain on bad terms with Amaterasu Omikami, so he presented the Ame-no-Murakumo sword that he had taken from the belly of that great serpent to Amaterasu Omikami, and his unfilial conduct was forgiven.

Amaterasu Omikami, upon seeing this sword, said, "This is the sword I dropped from Takamagahara long ago." This sword became the imperial treasure of successive emperors and is respectfully called the Sacred Sword. Thus, there was a marriage between Amaterasu Omikami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and when she conceived the Yasakani-no-Magatama, through the union of yin and yang, she gave birth to Masaakatsukatsuhayahi-Amenooshihomimi-no-Mikoto. This is the second of the earthly deities. The first deity, Amaterasu Omikami, [ruled] the land of Yamato.
