右三味すり合せ糊（のり）のごとくにし新（あたら）しき筆（ふで）にて小児の
頂（いたゞき）顖（おどり）手（て）のうちうでくび足（あし）のうら腿（もゝ）の引かゝみに碁石（ごいし）
の大さ程（ほど）つゝぬり乾（かは）き落（おつ）るにまかせ必（かならす）あらひさるへ
からす但（たゝし）端午（たんご）の午（むま）の時（とき）に塗（ぬる）へし一年ぬれは疱瘡
出ても数十粒（すじうりう）なり二年ぬれは疱瘡一二 粒（りう）三年
塗（ぬ）れはかならすやまず此（この）方（ほう）を伝（つたふ）る家（いへ）十六代疱瘡

疱瘡やまさる法
生玳瑁（せうたいまい） 犀角（さいかく）
右二味同しくすり粉にしてつねに小児にもちゆ
又方
小児生れ臍（ほそ）の蔕（を）落（おち）たるとき黒焼（くろやき）にし五分 辰砂（しんしや）
現代語訳
右の三味をすり合わせて糊のようにし、新しい筆で小児の頭頂、おどり（泉門）、手のひら、腕、首、足の裏、腿の付け根に碁石の大きさほどずつ塗り、乾いて落ちるに任せ、必ず洗い去ってはならない。ただし端午の午の時に塗るべし。一年塗れば疱瘡が出ても数十粒なり、二年塗れば疱瘡一二粒、三年塗れば必ず患わず。この方を伝える家は十六代疱瘡を患わずという。
疱瘡患わざる法
生玳瑁（せいたいまい）、犀角（さいかく）
右の二味同じくすり粉にして常に小児に持たせる。
又方
小児生まれて臍の蔕が落ちたとき黒焼きにし五分、辰砂

Grind these three ingredients together to make a paste-like consistency, and with a new brush, apply portions the size of go stones to the child's crown, fontanelle, palms, arms, neck, soles of feet, and inner thighs. Let it dry and fall off naturally - never wash it away. However, this should be applied at the hour of the horse on the Dragon Boat Festival. If applied for one year, even if smallpox appears it will be only several dozen pustules; if applied for two years, only one or two pustules of smallpox; if applied for three years, [the child] will surely not contract it. It is said that the family that transmits this method has not suffered from smallpox for sixteen generations.
Method to Avoid Smallpox
Fresh tortoiseshell (seitaimai), rhinoceros horn (saikaku)
Grind these two ingredients equally into powder and have the child carry it constantly.
