現代語訳
五月六月頃に糸瓜の蔓を取り、陰干しにして二両半を用意する。正月元日の子の刻に、両親のうち一人が他の人に知らせることなく水で煎じ、小児の全身を洗えば、一生疱瘡を患わず、もし患ったとしても軽症である。
胡蘆花湯（ひょうたんの花の湯）
八月に胡蘆の花を取り陰干しにし、節分の夜に水で煎じて小児を浴させれば、必ず疱瘡を免れる。
又方
六月上旬の伏日に胡蘆の若い蔓を数十根取って陰干しにし、正月元日の五更に人に知られないように水で煎じて小児を浴させる。

Take loofah vines in May or June, dry them in the shade, and prepare two and a half ryō. On New Year's Day at the hour of the rat, have one of the parents secretly decoct it in water without letting others know, and wash the child's entire body with it. Then the child will not suffer from smallpox for their entire life, and even if they do contract it, it will be mild.
Hulu Flower Decoction (Gourd Flower Decoction)
Take gourd flowers in August and dry them in the shade. On the night of Setsubun, decoct them in water and bathe the child in it, and they will surely be spared from smallpox.
Another Method
On the first superior fu day of June, take several dozen young gourd vine roots and dry them in the shade. On New Year's Day at the fifth watch, secretly decoct them in water without letting anyone know, and bathe the child in it.
