苦楝子（せんだんのみ）をとり水にてせんじ折々小児をあらへばほう

稀豆如神散（きとうじよしんさん）
糸瓜（へちま） 升麻（せうま） 芍薬（しやくやく）《割書：酒をそゝき｜いる》山査肉（さんざにく） 犀角（さいかく）
甘草（かんそう） 赤小豆（あづき） 黒大豆（くろまめ）
右八味等分にし一ふくに二 銭（せん）水一 椀（わん）せんじて六分に
現代語訳
七星（黒い）大きな烏魚（雷魚）《別名：黒魚、烏鯉魚、鱧魚、蠡魚》一尾、小さければ二三尾を用意する。十二月晦日の夕暮れ頃に水で煎じて小児を浴させ、全身をくまなく洗うべきである。生臭さを嫌って、その後を湯水で洗ってはならない。あるいは信じずに一手または一足だけを止めて洗わなければ、その所に疱瘡が多く出ると言う。
苦楝子湯（センダンの実の湯）
苦楝子（センダンの実）を取り水で煎じ、時々小児を洗えば疱瘡を患わない。

英語訳
Take one large seven-starred (black) black fish (snakehead fish) 《Also known as: black fish, black carp fish, murrel fish, or lei fish》, or two to three if small. On New Year's Eve around dusk, decoct it in water and bathe the child, washing the entire body thoroughly. Do not wash afterward with hot water because you dislike the fishy smell. It is said that if you do not believe in this method and refrain from washing just one hand or one foot, smallpox will appear abundantly in those areas.
Kulianzi Decoction (Chinaberry Fruit Decoction)
Take chinaberry fruits and decoct them in water. If you wash the child with this from time to time, they will not suffer from smallpox.
Xidou Rushen Powder (Miraculous Bean-like Powder)
Loofah, Black Cohosh, Peony root 《Pour sake over it and roast》, Hawthorn fruit flesh, Rhinoceros horn
Licorice root, Red adzuki beans, Black soybeans
Take equal parts of these eight ingredients, use two sen per dose, decoct with one bowl of water until reduced to six parts
