辰砂（しんしや） こまかにすり 磁石（じしやく） 一塊（ひとかたまり） とおなしくいり辰砂（しんしや）の色（いろ）
黒（くろ）くなるころ磁石（じしやく）をとり去（さり）辰砂ばかり又すり粉
にして少しつゝ蜜にてねりほうそうの出んとするとき

現代語訳

雄黄《一匁五分》 麝香《一匁》 甘草《五分》
右の十二味を細かく粉にして、蟾蜍一匁を古酒で煮詰め、蜜のようにしてから粉薬を練り、皂角子の実の大きさに丸薬とする。疱瘡の初熱の時に一丸を紫草の煎じ湯で服用すれば極めて軽症になる。
密調辰砂丹（みっちょうしんしゃたん）
辰砂を細かくすり、磁石一塊と一緒に炒って、辰砂の色が黒くなったころ磁石を取り去り、辰砂だけを再び擦って粉にし、少しずつ蜜で練る。疱瘡が出ようとする時に用いれば軽症になる。

Grind the above twelve ingredients into fine powder, boil one monme of toad in old sake until concentrated like honey, then knead with the powdered medicine and form into pills the size of soap pod seeds. When taken as one pill with a decoction of purple grass at the onset of smallpox fever, the condition becomes extremely mild.
Honey-Mixed Cinnabar Elixir (Mitchō Shinshatan)
Grind cinnabar finely, roast together with one piece of magnetite until the cinnabar turns black, then remove the magnetite and grind the cinnabar alone into powder, kneading little by little with honey. When used at the onset of smallpox, it makes the condition mild.
