梅英稀痘丹（ばいゑいきとうたん）

右二味 節分（せつふん）の夜（よ）に砂糖（さたう）に交（まじ）へ服（ふく）す疱瘡（ほうそう）かならず軽（かろ）
し毎年（まいとし）用ゆれは痘疹（ほうそう）をやます一方に十二月梅花を
とりかげほしにし粉（こ）にして蜜（みつ）にてねり豆（まめ）の大さに丸し
酒（さけ）にて常（つね）に用ゆれは疱瘡をやまずともあり

独活（どっかつ）《二匁》赤小豆（あずき）《七十粒》黒豆（くろまめ）《三十粒》糸瓜（へちま）《二つ、長さ五寸、皮が霜を受けたもの、黒焼きにする》
右十七味を細かく粉にして砂糖に練り混ぜ、李の核の大きさに丸し、辰砂を水飛して五匁、衣にし、一丸ずつ甘草の煎じ湯で服用する。
梅英稀痘丹（ばいえいきとうたん）
梅花蕊（梅の花のしべ）《七輪すりつぶす》辰砂（しんしゃ）《細かくすり、水飛す、一匁》
右二味を節分の夜に砂糖に混ぜて服用する。疱瘡は必ず軽くなる。毎年用いれば疱瘡にかからない。一方で、十二月に梅花を取り、陰干しにして粉にし、蜜で練って豆の大きさに丸し、酒で常に服用すれば疱瘡にかからないともいわれる。

Aralia cordata (2 monme) Red adzuki beans (70 grains) Black soybeans (30 grains) Loofah (2 pieces, 5 sun in length, with skin that has been exposed to frost, charred black)
Grind these seventeen ingredients into fine powder, knead with sugar, and form into pills the size of plum pits. Coat with cinnabar that has been levigated with water (5 monme). Take one pill at a time with a decoction of licorice.
Plum Blossom Smallpox-Preventing Pills (Baiei Kitō-tan)
Plum flower stamens (7 rin, ground to powder) Cinnabar (finely ground and levigated with water, 1 monme)
Mix these two ingredients with sugar and take on the night of Setsubun (seasonal division). Smallpox will surely be mild. If used every year, one will not contract smallpox. Alternatively, take plum blossoms in the twelfth month, shade-dry them, powder them, knead with honey into bean-sized pills, and regularly take with sake - this is also said to prevent smallpox.
