止町在へ御当用金御頼被成候ゟ外無之処当年之大水ニ而一統難儀之趣達
御聴上ニも甚御苦労ニ被為思召御身分之儀ゟ御格外之御倹約御〆り方追々

出精すること。そなた共の事は去年来出精してきたことであるが、誠に御大切の御指支（支障）になった御場合であるので、厚く申し談じて相働くよう存ずる。右の御締め方をはじめ調達金御返済方の事も林八右衛門へ仰せ付け、御奉行共へ万端申し談じて取り計らう筈である。

○当夏度々の大水で過分の御収納御取劣、その上川除堤道橋等の御普請に莫大な御物入りで、下地御不如意の御勝手向であるので、いよいよ増しての御指支、公辺御勤向も欠けるほどの事で御大切の事につき、種々御内評があったが、御手段を成す方法もないため、やむを得ず町在へ御当用金を御頼みになる以外に方法がない処、当年の大水で一統難儀の趣が御聴に達し、上におかれても甚だ御苦労に思し召され、御身分の事から御格外の御倹約御締り方を追々仰せ出される筈である。しかし当暮の御凌ぎ方が一向にないため、有謂御評議をもって今般身元の者共へ引当御才覚を仰せ付けた。これもまた難題至極の御頼み筋であるが、やむを得ない故の事である。右のような御時節であるので、末々に至るまで艱難を顧みず締り方を厳重に相守り、成るだけ上の御厄介にならないよう勘弁をもって凌ぐべき事である。右の趣を末々まで心得違いのないよう、各々心得をもってそれぞれ申し聞かせるべきである。

However, this year's floods have caused universal hardship, which has reached the lord's attention, causing him great concern. Due to his status, extraordinary frugality and tightening measures will be gradually announced. Nevertheless, since there is absolutely no way to manage through the current year-end, after thorough deliberation, financial arrangements have been requested from reliable persons. This is also an extremely difficult request, but it is unavoidable under the circumstances.
