〆り方も宜様ニ相聞候得共猶又万事心得違無之様ニ可致候別而年若成者部屋住
之者共心得違無之様親無油断可申聞事ニ候去夏大水之処借米等無滞致
上納満足ニ候当春甚気之毒ニ存候得共不得止事半減借米等申付難儀至極可
致事ニ候弥万事致勘弁取続相勤候様存候

○諸物価高騰につき、諸物価を引き下げて売買するよう先般幕府から命令があった。これを受けて今回各々に諸物価吟味掛りを命じた。そのように心得ること。その他に掛りを命じるべき適当な者たちは書付をもって伺いを立てて処理すること

御意 高知から末の番外まで
○一昨年家中の倹約の件を厳重に申し渡し、皆が守っている様子ではあるが、さらに集会・着類・音信・贈答の件について少しも緩むことのないよう、いよいよ心得ること。去秋の締め方心得の件を申し聞かせ、随分締め方も良いように聞いているが、さらに万事心得違いのないようにすること。特に年若い者や部屋住みの者たちが心得違いのないよう、親は油断なく申し聞かせること。去夏の大水の際、借米等を滞りなく上納し満足である。当春は甚だ気の毒に思うが、やむを得ず半減借米等を命じ、難儀を極めることになる。いよいよ万事において勘弁し、取り続いて勤めるよう思う

○諸寺院再興につき在郷からの寄進材木の川流しの件について、安永四未年に改めて命令を出したところ、近年緩んでいる様子が聞こえるので、安永四未年に命令した通り、きっと守ること。もし心得違いの者がいれば、曲事として処罰する。その旨を支配下へ申し渡すこと

In response to this, price examination officials have now been appointed to each party. This should be understood accordingly. For others who should be appointed to such positions, inquiries should be made with written documents for proper handling.

Lord's Intent From Kochi to the lowest outer guards
○ Two years ago, strict orders regarding frugality among retainers were issued, and all appear to be observing them. However, regarding gatherings, clothing, correspondence, and gift-giving, there should be no relaxation whatsoever - this must be understood more than ever. Last autumn we explained the guidelines for restraint, and we hear that restraint measures are going quite well, but there must be no misunderstandings in any matter. Particularly, young people and those living in family quarters must not misunderstand - parents must diligently instruct them without negligence. Last summer during the great flood, borrowed rice was paid without delay, which was satisfactory. This spring, though we feel great sympathy, we unavoidably ordered half-reduction of borrowed rice, which will cause extreme hardship. We hope that in all matters, understanding will be shown and duties will continue to be performed.

○ Previously the transportation of various stones was prohibited, but this has caused great hardship. Therefore, the Mikuni wholesalers and stone dealers have respectively petitioned for permission to transport. Accordingly, transportation of stones of regulation size shall be permitted.

○ Regarding the river transportation of donated timber from rural areas for temple reconstructions, revised orders were issued in An'ei 4 (1775). Recently it appears these have become lax, so the orders from An'ei 4 must be strictly observed. If there are any who misunderstand, they will be punished as wrongdoers. This should be communicated to subordinates.

1. Recently, medicine sellers from other domains and bean storage imitator-type persons have been frequently entering the castle town. Therefore, regarding future matters, while routine passage is acceptable, overnight stays in the castle town and entry into small streets and alleys are strictly prohibited.
