逗留体ニも見受候ハヽ其段旅籠屋共ゟ相達候様被申付其上ニ而早速組之者被指越吟

此外問屋并茶屋馬借等之者共旅人へ対し不法ねたりかましき儀無之様堅可被

一近年他国薬売并豆蔵物真似師体之者御城下へ多立入候趣相聞候以来之儀ハ通り
一遍之儀ハ格別小路〳〵へ立入候ハ其町内ゟ早速送り出候様可被申付候等閑ニ致置
候ハヽ其町役人可為越度候尤右体之もの御城下ニ而一宿之儀ハ勿論不相成候間猶又旅

一他国薬売之者共目明共遂吟味免札相渡御城下為致逗留候得共右体被指留

一操芝居其外見セ物類他国者之儀ハ被指留候

しかしながら、これまでも御城下近くの宿駅に逗留して御城下へ立ち入っている様子が聞こえる。今後の件については、一宿は格別として、逗留の様子と見受けられる場合は、その旨を旅籠屋たちから報告させるよう申し付け、その上で早速組の者を派遣して吟味するよう取り扱うこと

○宿場宿場の旅籠代については不当なことはないはずだが、できる限り値下げして旅人が難儀しないよう申し付けること。この他、問屋および茶屋・馬借等の者たちが旅人に対し不法で強欲な行為をしないよう堅く申し付けること。さらに詳しく調べて、それぞれ厳重に申し付けること
町奉行
一、近年他国の薬売りおよび豆蔵物真似師の類の者が御城下へ多く立ち入っている様子が聞こえる。今後については、通り一遍の件は格別として、小路小路へ立ち入った場合は、その町内から早速送り出すよう申し付けること。等閑にしておけば、その町役人の落度となる。もちろん、右のような者が御城下で一宿することはもちろん相成らないので、さらに旅籠屋たちへ厳重に申し付けること
【朱書】八百里が考えるに、昨酉年十月二十五日にこの通りの命令があったところ、また同様の命令とはいかがなものか
一、他国の薬売りの者たちに目明たちが吟味を遂げて免札を渡し、御城下に逗留させていたが、右のようなことは禁止されているので、今後は免札を渡すことを禁止する。目明たちへこの旨を申し付けること
一、操り芝居その他見世物類で他国者の件については禁止する

一、去る申年の御着城以後、厚い思し召しをもって御家中の面々に対し、御本丸において御直々に倹約・着服・参会の件を仰せ出されたことにより、町方についても右に準じて心得があることだろう。しかし町人たちについては御家中とは差別もあることではあるが、華麗な様子も聞こえ、心得違いである。他国から町家へは立ち入りもあるので、粗服をすることを迷惑に思い、自然とよい品を着用するようになる。厳重に仰せ出された御時節には不都合の至りである。また他国の者に対し御外聞にも関わり、よい品を着用したいことは一通りの人情であるが、しかし町人たちまでも奢らず粗服を用いることを他国の者が見れば、なおさら御政治厳重で御締まり方が行き届いているように思われることだろう。今後他国との交際等にも美服は用いず、粗服を用いること
一、羽二重・縮緬・紗・綾・純子・天鵞絨・勤もふる・綸子・絽・龍紋・本八丈・縞の類は用いてはならないこと

1. Habutae silk, crepe, gauze, twill, silk, velvet, mousseline, figured satin, gauze, dragon patterns, genuine Hachijo silk, stripes and similar materials must not be used.
