現代語訳
清和天皇の第七皇子がこの国に左遷され、この地で亡くなられた。良本はこれを牛御前の地に葬り申し上げた。その御印として石仏の釈迦を建立した。養和元年（1181年）、源二位頼朝公がこの社を経営し、千葉常胤が田園を寄進した。北条氏直の老臣である大道寺景秀に命じて、先例の通り神領を寄進させた。現在本社の前にある供免の地がそれである。天文七年（1538年）六月二十八日、後奈良天皇から「牛御前」の勅号を賜った。

英語訳
The seventh prince of Emperor Seiwa was exiled to this province and passed away in this place. Ryouhon buried him in the land of Ushi Gozen. As a memorial sign, he erected a stone Buddha of Shakyamuni. In Yowa 1 (1181), Minamoto no Yoritomo (holding the court rank of nii) managed this shrine, and Chiba Tsunetane donated rice fields. Hojo Ujinao commanded his senior retainer Odawara Kageshū to donate shrine lands according to precedent. The land called "kyūmen" currently in front of the main shrine is that very land. On the 28th day of the sixth month of Tenbun 7 (1538), Emperor Go-Nara bestowed the imperial title "Ushi Gozen."
