現代語訳

法司以下は、平日は皆緑地に印花の布傘を用いる。今見ると、各人皆花のあるものを用いている。雨傘を各一人。前を踏んで鳴金を鳴らす者一人。

座褥
一品は、紅褐の心、青褐の辺。紅氈を襯く。
二品は、青布の心、紅布の辺。紅氈を襯く。
三品は、青布の面。紅氈を襯く。
四品五品は、ともに藍布の面。白氈を襯く。
六品以下は、座褥を用いない。ただ氈条を用いる。

氏族
首里の四大姓は、向・翁・毛・馬である。向氏は即ち国王尚姓の別族である。少し遠いので則ち向と称してこれを別つ。故に世々王家と婚姻を通じない。その本国の人で王家と婚姻する者は、ただ翁・毛・馬の三家のみ。世々王舅法司となる。今現在法司となる者三人。馬献図、翁自道、向聖■、国丈毛邦秀。《割書：今の王尚敬の外祖王の妃は則ち馬氏である》世系はともに未だ詳らかでない。続考を俟って譜に列せん。

久米の三十六姓は、皆洪武・永楽両朝の賜った閩人である。万暦中に至って存する者は、ただ蔡・鄭・梁・金・林の五姓のみ。万暦三十五年に続けて賜った者は、阮・毛の両姓。各姓の子孫は、皆甚だしく繁衍しない。その他は籍を寄せ家より起こって貴顕となる者多くある。然れども賜姓の旧ではない。今九姓世譜中を閲するに、多くは国学で書を読む。

英語訳

Legal Officers and below all use green cloth umbrellas with printed flowers on ordinary days. Now it is observed that each person uses one with flowers. Each has one rain umbrella. One person walks ahead striking a gong.

Sitting Cushions
First rank: red-brown center, blue-brown border. Lined with red felt.
Second rank: blue cloth center, red cloth border. Lined with red felt.
Third rank: blue cloth surface. Lined with red felt.
Fourth and fifth ranks: both have indigo cloth surfaces. Lined with white felt.
Sixth rank and below: do not use sitting cushions. Only use felt strips.

Clans
The four great surnames of Shuri are: Sho, O, Mo, and Ba. The Sho clan is a branch family of the royal Sho surname. Being somewhat distant, they are called Sho to distinguish them. Therefore, generation after generation they do not intermarry with the royal family. Among the native people who intermarry with the royal family are only the three families O, Mo, and Ba. They serve as royal uncles and legal officers through the generations. Currently there are three people serving as legal officers: Ba Kenzu, O Jido, Sho Sei■, and Kokujo Mo Kunishū. 《Marginal note: The consort of the maternal grandfather of the current king Sho Kei was of the Ba clan》 The genealogies are all not yet detailed. We await further investigation to list them in the genealogies.

The thirty-six surnames of Kumemura were all Min people granted by the Hongwu and Yongle courts. By the Wanli period, only five surnames remained: Sai, Tei, Ryō, Kin, and Rin. Those additionally granted in the thirty-fifth year of Wanli were the two surnames Gen and Mō. The descendants of each surname have not multiplied greatly. Many others have registered and risen from humble origins to become noble and prominent. However, they are not of the old granted surnames. Now reading through the genealogies of the nine surnames, many study books at the national school.
