幽霊は物の怪とだんだん深く語らい、ついに懐妊して当たる十月になったので、安産で平産したところ、玉のような人間の子なり。物の怪は大いに驚いた。化け物の子がこんな満足な顔つきでは外聞も悪い。鼻でも逆さまについているか、口でも耳の際まで裂けているというような事でなければ片端とは言われない。こんな満足な子を産んだことは因果の

Unless the nose were attached upside down, or the mouth split all the way to the ears, it couldn't be called deformed. That such a perfect child was born is the workings of karma.
