**Seating of Imperial and Cloistered Court Envoys**
- Imperial Envoy (勅使): Aburanokoji Dainagon / Koga Dainagon
- Cloistered Emperor's Envoy (院使): Namba Former Dainagon
- Senior Imperial Women's Envoy (大女院使): Chigusa Saisho
- Imperial Women's Envoy (女院使): Mibu Former Saisho
The above individuals take their seats one at a time to the left of the middle dais (御中段), each dressed in formal court attire (sokutai).
One entry: The herald (告使), Yamashina Tajima-no-kami, dressed in sokutai, faces the shogun's presence from the garden and calls out "Go-shōshin" (Congratulations on your promotion) twice in a loud voice, then withdraws.
One entry: The document box (覧箱, ranbako) containing the imperial decrees (宣旨) is brought by the deputy envoy, Aoki Nakatsukasa-no-daijō, to the veranda of the carriage entrance (御車寄), where it is handed over to the Mibu Kanmu (壬生官務, the Mibu family official). As the box is carried along the veranda, the senior ceremonial official (高家), Rokkaku Echizen-no-kami, comes forward to the veranda to receive it.
**Presentation and Imperial Viewing of the Decrees**
While the documents are presented for the shogun's inspection, Rokkaku Echizen-no-kami withdraws to the lower dais, and the Kanmu official withdraws to the veranda. The decrees are presented in the following order:
1. Sei-i Taishōgun (Shogun — Barbarian-subduing Generalissimo)
2. Ukon'e Taishō (General of the Right Imperial Guard)
3. Uma-no-ryō Gogen (Inspector of the Right Stables Bureau)
4. Junna and Shōgaku Ryōin Bettō (Head of Both the Junna and Shōgaku Academies)
5. Genji Chōja (Head of the Minamoto Clan)
6. Two accompanying imperial decrees (両宣旨)
Total: Six documents
Each document is presented to the shogun one by one for his inspection. After the viewing is complete, Andō Tsushima-no-kami of the御納戸方 (the official in charge of the shogun's personal effects) stores them away. Rokkaku Echizen-no-kami then comes forward, takes the document box, carries it to the west veranda, and hands it to the shogunal announcer (奏者), Matsudaira Ukyō-no-suke. Ukyō-no-suke receives it, places two packets of gold dust (砂金) into the document box, and carries it to the south veranda, at which point the Kanmu official comes forward, receives the box with reverence, and withdraws.
