面之趣家中之面々一筋に主人を被存候段無余儀事
に存候得共偏に当地不案内故と存事に候尤先達而
右両使江如申含候奉重 公儀弥城無滞相渡速に被
退候義内匠殿日来之存念に相叶可為本意候間尚又
此旨可被存候右為可相達如此候也

書面の趣旨について、家中の面々が一筋に主人を思っている段は、やむを得ないことと存じますが、ひとえに当地の事情に不案内であるためと存じます。もっとも先達って右の両使に申し含めた通り、公儀を重んじ奉り、いよいよ城を滞りなく相渡し、速やかに退去される義は、内匠殿の日頃の存念に叶い、本意となるべく候間、なお又この旨をご存知おかれるべく候。右のことを相達するため、このように候。

Regarding the content of the letter, while it is understandable that all the retainers of your household are single-mindedly devoted to their lord, I believe this is entirely due to their unfamiliarity with the local circumstances. As I previously instructed the two aforementioned envoys, honoring the Shogunate and promptly surrendering the castle without delay, then withdrawing quickly, would align with Lord Takumi's long-held intentions and would fulfill his true wishes. Therefore, please be aware of this matter once again. I write thus to convey this message.
