また延引に及ぶことになる。その上、采女正殿より段々の御副書が届いている条件により、この上は是非もない間、御城を異議なく引き渡すべきである。その上で了簡もあるであろうと申し談じ、同志の者共へ右の趣を申し聞かせ、それより一途に城引き渡しの裁判に取りかかり、万端の調べ、役々を急に決定した。もっとも、これまでも引き渡しの覚悟がないわけでもなく、万が一両使の間違いもあり、是非もなく御城引き渡しになる節は、俄かに手を尽くすべきと了簡し、内々準備は仕置いていたとのことである。

They agreed that there would be room for consideration after that, and conveyed this understanding to their fellow retainers. From that point on, they devoted themselves entirely to the proceedings for the castle surrender, rapidly determining all arrangements and assigning various roles. Of course, it was not that they had been entirely unprepared for surrender; they had reasoned that if, due to some error by the two envoys, the castle surrender became inevitable, they would need to act quickly, and had made internal preparations accordingly.
