きっと五月の御百ケ日（百日忌）には花岳寺へ参るであろう。その時、衣装を剥ぎ取り、刀や脇差で殺すか、棒で打ち殺して、その跡地を没収地にしてやろうと足軽共が喜んでいるとのことです。この件を内蔵助が聞いて、「大事の前に小事が起こってはいかがなものか」と考え、兵助と儀左衛門を内蔵助の宅へ招いて密かに別宅するようにと申し付け、新浜辺へ先に落ち延びさせたとのことです。若い者や足軽以下まで、そのような筋のことは全く無用であると強く制止したため、萩原についてはその後放置したと盟伝にあります。
○一 小納戸坊主の多口宗円《五両、二人扶持》という者は、数年間素行が悪いと聞いていましたが、四月十三日に追放を申し付けました。この宗円は江戸において紙蝋燭の出し入れを行っていたところ、私腹を肥やしていた件がかねてから赤穂で知られており、引き渡し前に大高源五が受け取りました。
