江引申候様子は近年御年貢方請込御座候間百性共江被下

へ引いて申した様子は、近年御年貢方を請け込みございましたが、百姓共へ下されるように郡代佐々小左衛門へ相談したところ、御詮議の上、いよいよ引き負けに決まったので、どのようにでも仕合うようにと小左衛門が申し付けたので、両人を追い出したことです。
○一 佐用村の大庄屋彦右衛門も、これも右の通りに付いて百姓共が詰めかけたので、自害いたしました。
一 赤松村の大庄屋甚右衛門《割書：拾石》四月十五日、百姓共より潰され、家・田地・家財を残らず取られました。その理由は「趣意上ヶ米」と申して、御年貢の外に石につき一升五合ずつ近年取り込んでいましたが、公儀へは差し出していなかったことが、この度明らかになったので、百姓より潰されました。

The situation was that in recent years they had been collecting annual tribute payments, but when they consulted with magistrate Sasa Kozaemon about distributing it to the peasants, after deliberation it was decided that they would definitively lose the case, so Kozaemon ordered them to settle however they could, and the two men were expelled.
○One: The head village official of Sayo Village, Hikoemon, also faced the same situation with peasants pressing charges against him, so he committed suicide.
One: The head village official of Akamatsu Village, Jinemon (assessed at 10 koku), on April 15th was attacked by the peasants, who took all his house, fields, and household goods. The reason was that he had been collecting what was called "趣意上ヶ米 (shui-age-mai)" - 1 shō 5 gō per koku in addition to the regular annual tribute in recent years, but had not been submitting it to the government authorities. When this was revealed, the peasants attacked him.
