When he inquired about this, Kuranosuke reported that [Shinzaemon] thought it was quite reasonable. Since it would be difficult to predict when prompt instructions might come after consulting with the family members, Kuranosuke suggested that based on his own judgment, all the possessions should be collected and either sent up to Osaka to be sold, or placed in storage and put away. When Lord Daigaku arrives, he would inquire and handle the matter however instructed. Alternatively, he could consult with the family members and then proceed as they decide. If left abandoned in this locality, it would cause trouble later. Kuranosuke said there would be no error in handling it this way. Since he had consulted with us and received orders, that would be the proper course of action, and we should understand it as such. From tomorrow, the 16th, Shinzaemon would be on monthly duty, so around the 18th when Kuranosuke comes to report, in the meantime Shōdayū and others would have private consultations, reach a decision, and give instructions - this is what Lord Shinzaemon said, according to Jōemon.
