一右京大夫殿御宅江御着駕篭より御出被成足袋御ぬき被成候由
其後広間江御通り被成候而御挨拶人江被仰候は自分は全体不
肖之生付其上持病に痞有之物毎取静候事不被成候今日も
殿中を不弁不調法之仕形如是何も之世話に成候乍去相手
方は存分に仕をゝせ責而之義と存候由被仰候其後酒不苦
候は所望に存候旨被仰御挨拶に罷出候もの御大法に而候間差上
申間敷由申候たはこは如何と御乞被成候是も右同前之由申上候
茶を御乞被成候に付茶を差上候也御顔色御息つかひ御平生に
相替事無之候其后弟大学義如何被 仰付候哉と御尋
現代語訳
一つ、右京大夫殿のお宅へご到着、駕篭よりお出になり、足袋をお脱ぎになったという。その後広間へお通りになって、挨拶の人に仰せになったのは「自分は全体的に不肖の生まれつきで、その上持病に痞（つかえ）があり、物事を取り静めることができない。今日も殿中で不弁・不調法な仕方をして、このように何もかも世話になった。しかし相手方は思うままに仕遂げたので、せめてもの義理と思う」と仰せになった。その後「酒は苦手でなければ所望したい」と仰せになったが、挨拶に出た者が「お大名でいらっしゃいますので差し上げるべきではございません」と申した。「煙草はいかがか」とお求めになったが、これも右同前の由で申し上げた。お茶をお求めになったので茶を差し上げた。お顔色やお息づかいは平生と変わりなかった。その後「弟の大学の義はいかが仰せ付けられるか」とお尋ねになった。

One: Upon arrival at Lord Ukyō-no-dayū's residence, he emerged from the palanquin and removed his tabi (split-toe socks). Afterward, he proceeded to the reception hall and said to those who came to greet him: "I am fundamentally of poor character by nature, and moreover I suffer from a chronic condition of the chest that prevents me from keeping my composure in all matters. Today too, I acted improperly and inappropriately in the palace, causing trouble for everyone in this way. However, since the other party accomplished what he intended, I consider this to be at least some form of justice." After this, he said, "If sake would not be disagreeable, I would like some," but the person who came to greet him replied, "Since you are a daimyo, we should not offer it to you." When he asked, "How about tobacco?" they gave the same response as before. When he requested tea, tea was provided. His complexion and breathing showed no change from normal. After this, he inquired, "What will be decreed regarding my younger brother Daigaku?"
