現代語訳

○一 この者どもが下ったのは、あとで近辺に住んでいる一味の者どもが申すには、皆一応差し止めるために下ったが、もし時節がよく事が急に本懐を遂げることになれば、本意でないことになるので、あとから下ろうと申し合わせ、上方辺りに住み合わせていた一味の者どもは残らず下った。《割書:借宅は右同断》このように色めき立ったが、元より事を破らない合点で下ったことなので、江戸の様子を見繕い、一通り承り合わせてから皆帰った。その間江戸に直接住んでいる者もあった。その後も一人二人ずつ往来することは度々あったが、特に変わったことはなかった。 ○一 前原伊助のことについて。巳年に内匠頭様の一件の後、赤穂にも参らず、一分の存念で巳年三月中に、わずかにある金子で絹木綿等の切れ端を調達し、或いは所持の衣類を切り解いて切り売りにして、本庄相生町という所にいて、敵方の

○ Regarding these men going down to Edo: Later, the confederates residing in the vicinity said that while everyone had gone down ostensibly to restrain action, if the timing proved favorable and the urgent fulfillment of their purpose became possible, it would be regrettable [to be absent], so they agreed that others would follow later.
