様子を様々な方法で探り伺ったという。また上野介殿の屋敷替えが命じられたことに付き、本庄屋敷修復の時分に日雇い取りとなって入り込み、屋敷の模様を詳細に見置いたという。ところが内蔵助をはじめとして大望の志があるという由を承り及んだので、伊助も同意の願いを申し込んだ故、巳年の暮れに内蔵助が下向した節に初めて申し談じたという。
