十六人が大坂まで東海道を通り、同所より（中国街道を通って）八月二十一日に広島に到着しました。物頭天野平左衛門、持弓同頭道家半兵衛（膳番、仮目付）、小山源右衛門（馬廻り）、桂善兵衛（同じく馬廻り）、石河伝右衛門（同じく馬廻り）、神田清大夫が同行しました。
○広島において御用聞き（槍奉行）佐々宇左衛門が相勤めました（宇左衛門は大石と由緒があるため、このような配置となったのでしょう）。

Sixteen men traveled via the Tōkaidō road to Osaka, and from there (via the San'yōdō road) arrived in Hiroshima on the 21st day of the 8th month. Accompanying them were: Amano Heizaemon (weapon commander), Dōke Hanbei (archery captain, also serving as meal attendant and temporary inspector), Koyama Gen'emon (mounted guard), Katsura Zenbei (also mounted guard), Ishikawa Den'emon (also mounted guard), and Kanda Seidayū.
○In Hiroshima, Sasa Uzaemon served as liaison officer (spear magistrate). (Uzaemon had connections with Ōishi, which likely explains this appointment.)
○Until the middle of the 8th month of the Year of the Horse (Genroku 15/1702), there were about 120 members of the loyal band. However, when Lord Daigaku's confinement was pardoned and he was transferred to Lord Aki-no-kami's custody, with orders to return to his home domain with his wife and children, the situation changed. At that time, Kuranosuke's wife and children had scattered and were living in Kyoto. As reports about Lord Daigaku's situation gradually came from Edo, the members of the loyal band living nearby gathered together, realizing this was a critical moment.
