○一上方辺取さたには一儀之事 公儀江も漏れ聞江御関所〳〵江被仰
付牢人共改強く先江罷越候一味之内も搦被捕候抔と風説も有之
其外色々之義申触候に付人々覚束なく心底差起り其上に江戸
吉良上野介殿屋敷用心強候に付旁以奥野将監進藤源四郎

下り風説之通りに候得は心外に悪名を取り可申候道中無恙参着候
而も此辺之風聞江戸江聞へ可申候其上彼の屋敷用心厳敷候は大

○一つ、上方辺りの取り沙汰では、この一件のことが公儀にも漏れ聞こえ、各関所に申し付けられて浪人どもの改めが強くなり、先に向かった一味の内も捕らえられたなどという風説もあり、その他色々なことが申し触らされているため、人々は心配になって心底動揺し、その上に江戸の吉良上野介殿の屋敷の用心が強くなっているので、何かにつけて奥野将監、進藤源四郎、小山源五左衛門、川村伝兵衛などが申し合わせることには、「もっとも大切な時節である。今すぐ軽率に江戸へ下って、風説の通りであれば、心外にも悪名を取ることになるだろう。道中無事に参着したとしても、この辺りの風聞が江戸に聞こえるだろう。その上、かの屋敷の用心が厳しいのは、大事においては存念を達し難いであろう。この節の風聞が一層激しくなってから来る

As a result, people have become anxious and their hearts are disturbed. Furthermore, since security at Lord Kira Kōzuke-no-suke's mansion in Edo has been strengthened, Okuno Shōgen, Shindō Genshirō, Koyama Gen'uemon, and Kawamura Denbei, among others, conferred and said: "This is indeed a critical time. If we rush down to Edo now and the rumors prove true, we will unfortunately earn a bad reputation. Even if we arrive safely on the journey, the rumors from this area will reach Edo.
