同性之交りに而候然共強く隠密之段畢竟某不甲斐なき心底と
見届候故と残念に存候と懇に申聞候得は源四郎申聞候は御口上之趣一々
御尤に奉存候迷惑仕候御自分江対し隠し可申様無之候安芸守様には
御同性之事に候得は事を破り申候以後御存被遊候而能御座候後難を
気毒に存御為如何と御自分江も御物語不申様子はヶ様〳〵と有増之義
源四郎物語申候八郎右衛門承り成程尤なる事いつれも存寄至極に而候乍
然時節未至り不申候いかさま安芸守様思召にも天下之騒動にも成間敷
ものに而無之候兎角存留り候得かしと思召候様にも承り候其上此節は
吉良殿御方角いかふ用心厳敷候間万一にも仕損し候へは如何敷事

同性の交わりであります。しかし強く隠密にされている段は、畢竟、某が不甲斐ない心底と見届けられた故と残念に存じます」と懇切に申し聞かせたところ、源四郎が申し聞かせるには「お話の趣旨は一々ごもっともに存じます。迷惑をおかけしました。あなた様に対して隠し申すようなことはございません。安芸守様には御同性のことでありますから、事を破って申した以後、御存知になられて結構でございます。後の災難を気の毒に存じ、御身のためいかがかと、あなた様にもお話し申さない様子は」このようなことを源四郎が物語りました。八郎右衛門が承ったところ「なるほどもっともなことで、いずれも考えは至極でございます。しかし時節がまだ至っておりません。いかにも安芸守様のお考えでも、天下の騒動になるまじきものではございません。とかく思い留まられよと思し召される様子も承っております。その上、この節は吉良殿の御方角がいかにも用心厳重でございますから、万一にも仕損じ候えばいかがなることでしょう」

Certainly, even in Lord Aki-no-kami's thinking, this should not become a disturbance affecting the whole realm. I have heard that he thinks you should by all means hold back for now. Moreover, at this time Lord Kira's side is extremely vigilant, so if anything were to go wrong, what would become of it?"
