一内蔵介事全体活気成生質故於京都遊山見物等之事に付不宜風
説行跡も有之金銀等もおします遣ひ捨申候此事古風なる源四郎
源五右衛門なと強く気毒におもひ異見も切々に而大切之身のいか様之虚
事可有之も難計か又此後金銀も入用数多可有之候夫に右之不行
跡と致千悔候由
内蔵助不行跡は心得有之の義也依之上野介殿より之隠し目付共
現代語訳
「是非とも思い留まられるように」と申し聞かせ、「いずれも一筋に思い寄せがございますのは、時節をお待ちになられるように」と八郎右衛門が色々と申し聞かせました。源四郎もその意を得て、内蔵助、将監、源五右衛門にも右の物語をいたした由です。
一、内蔵介のことは、全体的に活発な生来の性質故、京都での遊山見物等のことについて宜しくない風説や行跡もございます。金銀等も惜しまず遣い捨て申しております。このことを古風な源四郎や源五右衛門などが強く気の毒に思い、異見も度々にして「大切な身でありながら、いかような虚事があるかも計り難い。また、この後金銀も入用が数多くあるでしょうに、それなのに右の不行跡をなされるとは」と後悔している由です。

"By all means, please reconsider," he urged, and "Since everyone unanimously feels this way, please wait for the right time," Hachirōuemon spoke to him in various ways. Genshirō also understood his meaning and related this story to Kuranosuke, Shōgen, and Gen'goemon as well.
1. Regarding Kuranosuke, due to his naturally spirited disposition, there have been unseemly rumors and misconduct concerning his pleasure trips and sightseeing in Kyoto. He has been spending gold and silver freely without restraint. The old-fashioned Genshirō and Gen'goemon and others feel deeply troubled by this and frequently admonish him, saying: "Despite being in such an important position, what kind of deception might there be - it's impossible to tell. Moreover, there will be much need for gold and silver in the future, yet he engages in such misconduct," expressing their regret.
